The past few years have been some of the most difficult & heart-wrenching of my life and this is something I have had to continually tell myself – “you are enough”. The hardest part has been how much of a struggle it is to get past those days where you just feel like you could barely deal with what’s going on around you, much less the judgement rest of the world. If you have a business, you need to put yourself out there. How do you do that though, when you’re constantly working to please everyone. If you’re going through this, please believe me when I say, I GET YOU.
The truth is you are allowed to care about what other people think. It’s human nature and I don’t think that’s going to change – but what you CAN change is what effect it has on your life.
Don’t get me wrong, you can say no to a client or skip out on social media if it means getting your mental health back. However, you have to ask yourself who are you taking the break for. Is it for you, or is it for someone or something else?
I was listening to Rachel Hollis’s podcast recently and she quoted someone who said “don’t let someone in the cheap seats have an expensive opinion in your life.” I mean, wow! Does that not get you just right there??? I know it did me because it’s true! It’s what we do. We think, ‘oh Sally is probably going to be so annoyed if I post this ‘ – or – ‘Corina is probably wondering why the heck I’m doing this’. So we let those thoughts stall us!
And even when we know this.. even when we know this in our heart of hearts… It’s not just a switch we can simply turn off.
We have to work at it.
Just keep working at it.
You will get there.
The day will come when it doesn’t matter what the rest of the world thinks or does, it only matters what you do. And believe me when I say, YOU ARE ENOUGH.
