Take a break
The first thing you should try is to simply take a break. Stop and walk way, take a few deep breaths and relax. Deep breathing relieves stress by increasing oxygen to your brain, giving your body an automatic signal to calm down. It’s one of the reasons why meditation is so beneficial
Work out
Stressful and unpleasant situations can take a strain on your body but working out does the opposite! It relieves stress with natural endorphins and physically helps your body to release muscle tension so you have less aches and pains on a day-to-day basis. I don’t know about you, but that puts me in a better mood all by itself.
Practice gratitude regularly
Practicing daily gratitude, especially in the morning, can turn around a bad day before it even starts. Make it a part of your every day routine to list out all the small things you are grateful for on that day. It will put you in a positive mindset so that when you do encounter a difficult situation, it’s a lot easier to pull yourself out.
Do something fun
There’s no reason why one frustrating moment, should deraild your whole day. It might seem counter-intuitive at first but doing the things you do when you’re happy, even when you’re not, can help boost your mood immensely. Treat yourself to lunch or coffee with a friend, practice a favorite hobby or even see a movie you’ve been wanting to see.
Let it go!
It’s okay to take a minute to vent and feel the anger, sadness or whatever other emotions you have in the moment. But, as soon as you let it all out – let it go. Understand that the thing you have the most control of, is how you react and how you feel from here on out. Once you realize you have that control, it’s a whole lot easier to brush things off that would have ruined your day in the past.
